The Director and his staff take care of the maintenance of the City Hall, the Recreation Center and assist at the Ice Rink/Pavilion. They also cut grass at over 25 City owned parks and properties.

The Recreation Staff also runs the recreation leagues and open recreation nights from October to May.

What do you have at the Recreation Center?

Besides a basketball court, we have 2 pool tables, 1 air hockey table, 1 table hockey, 2 foosball tables, 2 bumper pool tables, 2 ping-pong tables, mini basketball, and 2 weight rooms. The weight rooms are for high-school students on up.

If you cannot make our night hours and would like to lift weights during the day, call Scott at (231) 627-2151 to set up a time.

What are your hours?

We are open for elementary and junior high school students from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm. For high school students and adults, 8:00 pm – 10:30 pm.

Boy’s & Men’s nights are Monday and Wednesday; Girl’s & Women’s nights are Tuesday and Thursday.

Saturdays are open from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm for Special Olympics.

The Cheboygan Youth Center located at 504 Division Street runs a summer program at the Recreation Center. Call Debbie Turnbull at (231) 597-9421 for dates, times, and additional information.

Soccer Players — Work on your game with one of the best coaches around — Tom Brcic (Mr. B) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Call the Recreation Center at (231) 627-2151 for more information.

Can we use your meeting room?

Only if you are a non-profit group.

Can we rent the Recreation Center for a wedding?


Can we use the gym for our youth group?

Yes, if we can make it fit in our schedule.

Do you have any leagues for men or women to play volleyball or basketball?

Yes, men’s basketball runs in the fall and winter; women’s basketball runs in the winter on Sundays.

We have two volleyball leagues — a spike league and a church league. There is no spiking in the church league. They are both co-ed and both run on Sundays in the winter.

Can I use the weight room in off-hour times?

Yes, just call to set up a time.
