Water Main Repair: Water Off on Western Avenue

UPDATE: Water is back on!
Water has been turned off on Western Avenue, between State Street & Division Street, to repair a leak in the water main.

2025 MARCH BOARD OF REVIEW

MEETING SCHEDULE

CITY OF CHEBOYGAN, CHEBOYGAN COUNTY

The City of Cheboygan Board of Review for March 2025 will meet at City Hall, 403 North Huron Street, in the Council Chambers on the following dates and times:

  • Organizational Meeting – Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 6:00 P.M.
  • Appeal Hearing – Monday, March 10, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. –12:00 Noon; and 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.
  • Appeal Hearing – Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.; and 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.

The Board of Review will meet as many more days as deemed necessary to hear questions, protests, and to equalize the 2025 assessments.  By board resolution, taxpayers are able to protest by letter, sent to PO BOX 39 Cheboygan, Michigan, 49721 or dsullivan@cheboygan.org, provided protest is received prior to March 12, 2025.

The tentative ratios and the estimated multipliers for each class of real property and personal property for 2025 are as follows:

Commercial……..45.02%………1.11062

Commissioners Needed – Local Officer’s Compensation Commission

The City of Cheboygan is currently seeking to fill Commissioner vacancies for the Local Officer’s Compensation Commission. The Local Officer’s Compensation Commission shall determine the salaries of all City elected officials. The Commission shall consist of five members who are registered electors of the City, appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by a majority of the members elected and serving in the legislative body. The terms of office shall be five years. No member or employee of the legislative, judicial or executive branch of any level of government or members of the immediate family of such member or employee shall be eligible to be a member of the Commission.

City of Cheboygan Mandatory City-Wide Water Run

The City of Cheboygan issued a City-wide let water run effective January 22, 2025 until further notice. Even though the weather may become milder, it is imperative that the water customers continue to run their water as mandated by the City.
Again, let your water run continually for 24 hours per day in one sink the size of a pencil. Water bills will be adjusted accordingly for this mandatory run.

City Hall Closed – Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Please be advised that the City of Cheboygan offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
