The City of Cheboygan is currently seeking to fill Board Member vacancies for the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority was established by the City of Cheboygan to promote the revitalization, redevelopment, and reuse of property within the City that is environmentally contaminated, blighted, or functionally obsolete. The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority may implement brownfield redevelopment plans, investigate sites regarding environmental contamination, and utilize tax increment financing to assist with the remediation of a site and its redevelopment. If you feel you could be an asset to this board, please complete the City’s Board and Commission Application available at City Hall or here (Board and Commission Application) and return to the City Clerk’s office at 403 N. Spring Clean Up Dates

Starting on April 24 and ending May 5, 2023, the City’s Street Department will provide free pick-up service for yard rakings, brush, and small tree limbs (hereafter debris). After May 5, 2023 no debris is permitted to be placed at the edge of the streets. Debris must not be placed out for pick up before April 22, 2023.
Debris must be at the edge of the street, not in ditches or on grassy areas. We ask your cooperation in separating your leaves into one pile and your brush & small tree limbs into another to facilitate pickup. If the items are not separated, the City cannot guarantee their pick-up. The City cannot and will not accept garbage, household trash, appliances of any type, tin, metal or items too heavy for one man to lift.

City Seeks Candidate

Nominating petitions for persons wishing to qualify as a Candidate for the Office of Councilperson for the August Special Election, August 8, 2023, are available at the City Clerk’s Office, 403 North Huron Street, Cheboygan, Michigan. This is to elect one Councilperson to fill a partial term which expires in November 2026. Nominating petitions must be signed by not less than 25 nor more than 50 registered electors of the City. Nominating petitions must be filed with the City Clerk no later than 4:00 o’clock p.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
Candidates must also file a “Statement of Organization” with the County Clerk pursuant to State Statute. Failure to do so will result in the Candidate not being put on the Election Ballot.

2023 MARCH BOARD OF REVIEW
MEETING SCHEDULE
CITY OF CHEBOYGAN, CHEBOYGAN COUNTY
The City of Cheboygan Board of Review for March 2023 will meet at City Hall, 403 North Huron Street, in the Council Chambers on the following dates and times:
- Organizational Meeting – Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 5:15 P.M.
- Appeal Hearing – Monday, March 13, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. –12:00 Noon; and 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.
- Appeal Hearing – Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.; and 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.
The Board of Review will meet as many more days as deemed necessary to hear questions, protests, and to equalize the 2023 assessments. By board resolution, taxpayers are able to protest by letter, sent to PO BOX 39 Cheboygan, Michigan, 49721 or dkeipert@cheboygan.org, provided protest is received prior to March 15, 2023.

Notice of Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given that the Cheboygan City Council, at its Regular City Council Meeting, will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. for the following:
To Repeal Chapter 155: Historic District and Enact a New Chapter 155: Historic District.
Copies of the Ordinance are on file in the City Clerk’s office and online at www.cheboygan.org. Public comments, both pro and con, are invited. If attendance is not possible, written comments should be addressed to the City Clerk, Alyssa Singles, PO Box 39, Cheboygan, Michigan 49721 or emailed to asingles@cheboygan.org for inclusion in the Public Hearing. All written comments shall be received by 4:00pm the day of the hearing.
