Sanitary Sewer Smoke Testing

The City of Cheboygan is conducting a manhole inspection program on the City’s sanitary sewer system. This is required in order to determine if the City is contributing excess flows to the sanitary sewers. These excess flows could be storm (rain) water entering the sanitary sewers through cracks in sanitary pipes, manholes or through sanitary/storm sewer cross connections. This excess flow is then unnecessarily sent through the sanitary sewers to the Cheboygan wastewater treatment plant where it is treated as if it were sanitary flow.


Public Hearing on Proposed Operating Budget

The Cheboygan City Council will conduct a Public Hearing on the proposed OPERATING BUDGET, which includes all funds for the Fiscal Year, July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 for the City of Cheboygan. The Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. via teleconference. Instructions to join the teleconference will be included on the meeting agenda and will be posted to the City website.


Notice of Public Hearing (Application to EGLE)

The City of Cheboygan will hold a public hearing on the application to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) for funding assistance through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, better known as the State Revolving Fund (SRF) Program for the proposed Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements project. The public hearing is being held for the purpose of receiving comments from interested persons.

The hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 during the City Council Regular Meeting at the City Hall, 403 N Huron Street, Cheboygan, Michigan, 49721.

Nonpartisan Biennial Election Nominating Petitions

City Of Cheboygan November 3, 2020 Nonpartisan Biennial Election Nominating Petitions

Nominating petitions and affidavits of identity for persons wishing to qualify as a candidate for Mayor or City Councilperson are due to the City Clerk by July 21, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. Three full term Councilperson seats will be open, term to expire November 2024, one partial term Councilperson seat will be open, term to expire November 2022, and one Mayoral seat will be open, term to expire November 2022.

Nominating petitions must be signed by not less than 25 nor more than 50 registered electors of the City of Cheboygan. Please note “No person shall be elected or appointed who is in default to the city. No person shall be eligible to any elective office of the city unless he/she shall be an elector thereof.” (Charter, Chapter 3, Sec 3.5)

Cheboygan Housing Commission Seeks Proposals

Cheboygan Housing Commission concurrently seeks responses for two affordable housing improvement activities.


Request for Proposals 2020-01

The Cheboygan Housing Commission seeks proposals from qualified partners to enter into section 8 project-based vouchers predevelopment or rehabilitation agreement for housing assistance payments.


Request for Qualifications 2020-02

The Cheboygan Housing Commission seeks qualifications from eligible and qualified partners to redevelop and reposition its public housing program.


Both documents are available on the City of Cheboygan website or by request.

Interested parties may respond to the Cheboygan Housing Commission, Executive Director/Contracting Officer at email hidden; JavaScript is required.
