Mr. Paul Tanner, residing at 2515 Harrison Ave #407, has submitted an application to the Zoning Board of Appeals, contesting the decision made by the City’s Zoning Administrator, in accordance with Section 14.03 (c) of the City Zoning Ordinance. The applicant believes that the Zoning Administrator is incorrect in categorizing a fence, located at 2519 Harrison Ave, as a legal non-conforming structure.
Should you have comments, please appear at the public hearing listed above, at which time you may express your views on the matter in person or by legal counsel. Spring Clean Up

SPRING CLEAN UP TIME. Starting April 29 and ending May 10, 2024, the City’s Street Department will provide free pick-up service for yard rakings, brush, and small tree limbs (hereafter debris). After May 10, 2024, no debris is permitted to be placed at the edge of the streets. Debris must not be placed out for pick up before Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Debris must be out by 7:00 a.m. at the edge of the street, not in ditches or on grassy areas, on Monday, April 29. We ask your cooperation in separating your leaves into one pile and your brush & small tree limbs into another to facilitate pickup. If the items are not separated, the City cannot guarantee their pick-up. The City cannot and will not accept garbage, household trash, appliances of any type, tin, metal, or items too heavy for one man to lift. GRASS or LEAVES IN PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP!

The City of Cheboygan continues to work with the EPA and various stakeholders, including Cheboygan County, on the cleanup of the Tissue Depot warehouse site. Our next focus is on the poly material piles and removing debris off the sidewalks around the site.
As of March 19, 2024, the EPA has received approval to move forward with safely disposing of the poly materials in a local landfill. The City is asking for your patience and to please avoid the restricted area as cleanup progresses. Over the next 45 days, please expect heavy equipment and some minimal road closures in the area due to the site clean-up.
The site is still secure and there are no health-related exposure issues to the public. The City and County will continue to monitor the site cleanup progress to ensure public safety and to protect the surrounding neighborhoods.
