Public Service Announcements

Posted on April 3rd, 2020

Based on the current Federal COVID-19 guidelines that suggest social distancing through April 30, 2020, and assuming Governor Whitmer will follow these guidelines:

The City of Cheboygan is working on hosting their City Council Meetings using Microsoft Teams by the April 14, 2020 meeting;

The City’s tentative plan for SPRING CLEAN UP TIME is:

Starting on April 25 and ending May 8, 2020, the City’s Street Department will provide free pick-up service for yard rakings, brush, and small tree limbs (hereafter debris). After May 8, 2020 no debris is permitted to be placed at the edge of the streets.  Debris must not be placed out for pick up before April 25, 2020.

Debris must be at the edge of the street, not in ditches or on grassy areas. We ask your cooperation in separating your leaves into one pile and your brush & small tree limbs into another to facilitate pickup.  If the items are not separated, the City cannot guarantee their pick-up.  The City cannot and will not accept garbage, household trash, appliances of any type, tin, metal or items too heavy for one man to lift. GRASS or LEAVES IN PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP;

The City’s Parks & Recreation Department encourages social distancing use of their parks for walks etc.; however, ALL playground equipment is tentatively shutdown. In addition, the State of Michigan has tentatively closed the Trailhead Public Restroom.
