Temporary Water Shut-Off

The City of Cheboygan is improving the roadway and utility infrastructure on Court Street, Pine Hill Avenue, Loomis Street and Filmore Street during the Court Street Sanitary Sewer and Water Main Replacement Project. The Project includes roadway reconstruction, sanitary sewer replacement, water main replacement, and storm sewer work. The work being completed will provide residents with an improved sanitary and water system, as well as an improved roadway surface and drainage. J&N Construction is the prime contractor performing the work.

This serves to notify that from April 23rd to April 30th the water will be temporarily shut off from 7:00am to 7:00pm while the new water main is being installed along the project.

 The following streets will be affected:

  • Court St (west of Watson)
  • Division
  • Fremont
  • Howard
  • Randolph
  • Stanley
  • Palmyra (between Court & Hancock)

We appreciate your patience while this work is being done. We will complete the water improvements as soon as possible, restoring regular access to your water utility.

Hubbell, Roth and Clark, Inc. has been retained by the City to provide construction observation and administrative services. A representative from HRC may be in contact with you if you live within the project limits.

Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Commissioners Needed

The City of Cheboygan is currently seeking to fill Board Member vacancies for the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority was established by the City of Cheboygan to promote the revitalization, redevelopment, and reuse of property within the City that is environmentally contaminated, blighted, or functionally obsolete. The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority may implement brownfield redevelopment plans, investigate sites regarding environmental contamination, and utilize tax increment financing to assist with the remediation of a site and its redevelopment.

Parks and Recreation Commissioners Needed

The City of Cheboygan is currently seeking to fill Commissioner vacancies for the Parks and Recreation Commission. The Parks and Recreation Commission is an advisory commission that makes recommendations to the City Manager, Recreation Director and City Council concerning the recreation and park needs of the City. They also prepare, consider, and approve a parks and recreation master plan. In addition, the Commission may choose to fundraise for the parks system, including research and recommendations on grant applications. The Commission may not submit grant applications or receive grants funds without consent of City Council. Meetings for the Parks and Recreation Commission are typically held the third Wednesday of every other month beginning at 5:00pm. The applicant must live within the Cheboygan Area School District.
